  • Basic Qualifications

    • Ethernet Data Encryption (EDE-CIS) and MACsec
    • High Assurance Internet Protocol Encryption (HAIPE)
    • Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)
    • Government Certification Process
    • Type 1 Development Experience

    Education Requirements:

    Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field and is required plus a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree in engineering or a related technical field plus a minimum of 13 years of relevant experience.


    Clearance Requirements:

    This position requires a minimum of an active Secret clearance, TS/SCI preferred. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required. 


    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a TACLANE Senior Technical Lead Engineer and Archetect. The candidate will provide Technical Leadership in support of High Speed Ethernet (Layer2) Encryption Products and related IRAD activities. The Senior Technical Lead has technical influence across a wide part of General Dynamics Mission Systems’ business, with specific focus on the Secure Networks and Voice Products (SNVP) business area.  The Senior Technical Lead is a  go to engineer when engaging with customers, formulating strategy, working proposals, defining and overseeing IRAD progress and value to the business and providing vision and technical guidance for projects and programs. The Senior Technical Lead works with the Strategic Business Development organization to create technical advantages throughout the Cyber Line of Business. The candidate plays a key role in the technical and customer community both internally and externally, and is responsible for driving the development of High Speed Ethernet Technologies.


    The roles and responsibilities of this position include supporting Business Development, Strategic Planning and IRAD activities of the SNVP Business Area including:

    • Creating and presenting both business and technical content briefings to customers and General Dynamics Mission Systems management
    • Creating and managing technical roadmaps
    • Supporting technical customer engagements with consistent messaging and visibility of the full strength of GDMS technology and skills
    • Authoring whitepapers to identify gaps in customer activities or systems which could be addressed by the SNVP team
    • Leading and contributing to proposal activities which include supporting the development of work breakdown structures, completing estimates of labor, material, and travel in response to request for proposals
    • Coordinating and authoring responses to surveys
    • Working with the SBU to create technical advantages throughout the Line of Business
    • Maintaining technical leadership to be able to discuss with technical staff and customers, in both formal and ad hoc environment
    • Evolving concepts or emerging solution spaces; providing technical viewpoint and opinion on new opportunities
    • Assisting in the development of strategies to tackle new opportunities within and outside of the current customer and contract base
    • Generation of new IRAD activities that enable and enhance solutions for the SNVP Customers is also a critical part of this position


    The roles and responsibilities also include:

    • Technical leadership of concept development and consulting on guidance for product development and integration efforts within engineering
    • Providing subject matter expertise to development teams
    • Staying current with development/integration team activities to be able to act as a liaison between the technical teams and program management
    • Identifying technical skills which may be needed in the future and working with engineering management to seek training opportunities both for personal and team skill enhancement
    • Advocating both within the engineering teams and outside (management, customers, etc.) to adopt tools and/or processes which could increase General Dynamics Mission Systems engineering value to the customer
    • Championing introduction of technology and/or tools to engineering teams working on SNVP programs
    • Attending select trade shows/conferences to stay abreast of emerging technology trends
    • Contributing to engineering team efforts when expertise can help achieve team objectives

    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering or a related technical field or the equivalent experience is required, Master’s preferred. In addition, a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience is required. 3 years of leadership experience preferred. Management of a technical task preferred. Must have experience with and knowledge Type 1 Encryption, EDE-CIS, and HAIPE. 


    Candidates must demonstrate passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of various engineering systems and the ability to further advance General Dynamics Mission Systems' technology. Restricted/Intelligence Agency customer experience required.
