  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in software engineering or a related technical field is required (or equivalent experience), plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree. Agile experience preferred.


    Candidates should have the following:

    • Fluency in C/C++ (required)
    • Object-oriented programming (required)


    Department of Defense SECRET security clearance is desired at time of hire with the ability to obtain a Secret clearance required. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Software Engineer in our Scottsdale, AZ location. 


    In this role you will:

    • Develop embedded software for a Tactical Cross Domain Solution (TACDS)
    • Develop pluggable Filter components for multiple message formats (VMF, XML, KLV-FMV, Binary, etc.)
    • Develop User Programmable Rule Sets
    • Implementation of Secure Boot and Trusted Platform Modules
    • Develop Drivers and Plug-ins for a Linux kernel application
    • Develop FPGA Programmable Logic
    • Provide Engineering Support to Field Application Engineers supporting customer integration activities
    • Experience using GIT Lab and Bugzilla

    • Performs software requirements analysis, participates in research, designs, develops and tests software and tools, to include development of new work products or enhancing existing applications, systems or embedded products
    • Codes, tests, integrates and documents software solutions
    • Applies principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis to the development of complex software and architectures
    • Researches and analyzes data, such as customer design proposals, market trends, state of technology and industry, specifications and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
    • Participates in internal review of software components and systems
    • Receives little instruction on day-to-day work
    • Independently determines approach to solutions
    • Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained
    • Contributes and accountable to the completion of major programs and projects
    • Responsible for resolution of significant and diverse problems and issues of broad scope and complexity
    • Provides leadership and/or direction to lower level employees and teams
    • Works collaboratively with field application engineers to resolve complex customer support issues
    • Frequently works with organizations outside engineering or with external customers
    • Builds stable working relationships internally


    • A seasoned, experienced professional with a fully proficient understanding of software engineering concepts, principles and theories and expert at applying technical standards and methodologies to resolve a wide range of issues in creative ways
    • Capable of working on problems of diverse scope requiring extensive analysis of data and evaluation of a multitude of factors
    • Demonstrates fully proficient judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
    • Fully proficient knowledge of the software development process as well as software engineering concepts, principles and theories
    • Fully proficient knowledge of other related engineering and support disciplines
    • Detailed and fully proficient knowledge of technology trends and champions new ideas and product process improvements
    • Fully proficient knowledge of software tools supporting Integrated Development Environments (IDE), version control, defect reporting and scripting
    • Ability to be creative, innovative and responsible, and able to master fully proficient decision-making skills
    • Ability to multi-task
    • Fully proficient ability to grasp and apply new information quickly
