  • Basic Qualifications

    Education Requirements:

    Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree. Agile experience preferred.


    Clearance Requirements:

    A TS/SCI security clearance with the ability to obtain a Polygraph is required at time of hire. Candidate must be able to obtain the Polygraph within a reasonable amount of time from date of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) is seeking motivated candidates to join our insider threat detection, systems integration team. Our mission oriented team is responsible for the design, testing, deployment, maintenance, operation, and evolution of the systems directly supporting the insider threat detection program of a large government customer in the United States Intelligence Community (USIC).


    GDMS has an immediate opening on the team for a motivated Security System Engineer to focus on deploying, maintaining and troubleshooting cutting edge User Behavior Analytics and insider threat detection solutions. This role will interface directly with customers and play a key role in designing analytic strategies to identify risky behaviors, architecting data ingestion pipelines for the full range of enterprise data sources, and working closely with teams to ensure mission success. This is a challenging yet rewarding position that provides an opportunity to leverage cutting edge technologies in pursuit of a vital mission that protects people, sensitive information/technologies, and the national security posture of the USIC.



    • Participates in requirements analysis, requirements definition,  functional analysis, performance analysis, system design, trade studies, systems integration and test (verification), system troubleshooting and integration
    • Work directly with customers’ insider threat analysts
    • Demonstrate competency working hands-on in Linux/Windows based environments, troubleshooting on-site technical issues, using and configuring the insider threat solutions to deliver actionable analytic results
    • Bring practical information security experience to bear to ensure seamless implementations, including: demonstrated knowledge of security information event management solutions, such as Splunk, ArcSight, and QRadar, as well as typical data feeds, such as web proxy logs, Active Directory logs, remote access logs, etc.
    • Continually learn and update skills in quickly evolving core technologies, including Elastic, Apache NiFi, and python scripting.
    • Provide technical briefings to customers


    • Proficient in Microsoft Infrastructure components: Microsoft Server 2012/2016, Active Directory, DNS, DFS, DHCP, Group Policy, Exchange, SQL, SharePoint, Office, IIS, Linux RedHat 6/7
    • Proficient with maintaining virtualization environments: VMware and Citrix XenDesktop
    • Experience with Active Directory domains and trusts, security delegation and file share security
    • PKI and TLS/SSL certificate integrations
    • McAfee Epolicy and Enterprise Security Manager, WhatsUp Gold
    • HP ProLiant series, HPE/Dell workstation and Thin Clients maintenance and deployments
    • Basic networking experience and understanding of LAN switching and VLANs
    • Experience with remote server administration
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or an equivalent technical discipline 
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in Linux/Windows engineering

    The majority of work will be performed in Chantilly, Virginia, which is located approximately 25 miles west of Washington D.C., near the Dulles International Airport. The selected Security System Engineer will support a 6+ year contract that General Dynamics recently secured.
