  • Basic Qualifications

    High school diploma or GED. One year of relevant painting experience.

     

    Successful completion of a drug screen and background check is required. Due to the nature of the work performed in our facility US citizenship is required.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Finisher/Painter in our Marion, VA location to work either 2nd or 3rd shift. The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation’s fundamental defense services.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

     

    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

     

    • Performs sanding, taping, applying filler and various paint prep requirements for a number of composite aerospace programs. 
    • Uses spray guns to apply primer and coatings; perform stripping and re-work when necessary. 
    • Must be able to weigh and measure paint flow, viscosity, and coating quality in performing duties as assigned with a high degree of quality under rigid inspection requirements.


    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

     

     

    • Must be able to work either 2nd or 3rd shift
    • Basic knowledge and understanding of paint specifications for required finishes
    • Basic knowledge of dry booth painting
    • Basic knowledge of proper surface preparation prior to painting
    • Basic knowledge of painting equipment used
    • Good interpersonal skills to cooperate and work effectively with others
    • Ability to understand drawings, work orders and BOMs
    • Ability to evaluate work conditions and quality of work produced
    • Ability to work with multiple coating systems
    • Basic computer skills
