  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in software engineering or a related technical field is required (or equivalent experience), plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree. Agile experience preferred.


    Department of Defense SECRET security clearance is REQUIRED at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Responsibilities for this Position



    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Software DevOps Engineer to join our Tactical Control System (TCS) team. We provide the Navy's AN/BYG-1 Submarine Combat System software to the entire submarine fleet. This position provides an opportunity to develop cutting-edge technical support for the United States Navy (USN) and Royal Australian Navy (RAN) Submarine Combat systems. Our close-knit team is passionate for delivering the best product to the Navy which directly helps the USN and RAN do their job to protect our country. Our team works closely with the Submarine community to develop solutions that allow the Navy to carry out high-stakes national security missions.


    Key Responsibilities

    The selected candidate will work with the DevOps team to provide controlled application releases for test and production environments. This includes source code management and build and release management. Responsibilities also include scripting tasks related to the Configuration Management environment and relies on experience with version control systems and build tools. Candidates must show a passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of software systems and applications, and the ability to effectively manage, grow and evolve software solutions.  The candidate must also be proficient at the configuration/installation of new software tools.


    Required Experience

    Linux scripting (Bash, Tcsh)

    C++/Java build systems such as make and maven

    Continuous integration and continuous release within a Linux environment

    Atlassian suite including JIRA, BitBucket and Bamboo

    Proficiency in C++ and Java software development within a Linux environment

    Working knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) using Agile


    Preferred Experience

    Python scripting

    Familiar with Artifact build repositories such as Nexus

    Familiar with Static analysis tools such as Parasoft

    DevOps role on an Agile program

    Familiar with Navy Submarine AN/BYG-1 design


    Degree and Experience

    This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent field and at least two years of related experience.
