    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) Facilities and Real Estate (FRE) organization has an immediate opening for a Workplace Strategy Manager to join the Workplace Solutions (WPS) team.  The selected candidate will work across a diverse portfolio of more than 65 sites consisting of engineering office, lab spaces, manufacturing plants and secure facilities.  The Workplace Strategy Manager will consult with key stakeholders and business partners in a collaborative environment to lead and influence solutions that produce meaningful change, promote innovation and foster collaboration within the work environment.  The Workplace Strategy Manager will develop solutions that aim to align the work environment and work practices with organizational business goals and objectives at the site, campus and portfolio levels.  Solutions can be inclusive of the “business case for change” and the development and roll out of change management programs.  The Workplace Strategy Manager should be well versed with working experience in the areas of occupancy planning, design, functional program and workplace standards development incorporating both traditional and alternative workplace strategies.

     

    Responsibiliites and Tasks:

    • As a leader on the Workplace Solutions team, lead effort to create Workplace Strategy repeatable, documented process and define organizational structure to support execution of $30 - $50M complex facilities projects annually – mid to large scale (generally ranging from $1M to $10M) - with focus on adding value in the following disciplines:
      • Workplace Guidelines, including workplace standards, design guidelines, and implement branding and identity initiatives
      • Space Planning, in support of developed workplace guidelines
      • Customer engagement initiatives, including communications, surveys, on-site events, social media, and online SharePoint sites
      • Project Management Process, Governance, and Tools, including Project Management playbook
    • Be an agent for change to modern workplace standards and implement change management initiatives, including communications, process education, coaching and engagement sessions
    • Identify and validate existing organizational requirements and workplace needs including utilization, growth forecasting, specialized requirements, head and seat counts and employee requirements
    • Identifies opportunities to reduce occupancy costs and operating costs through alternative workplace strategies and consolidation / co-location assessments
    • Measures and analyzes workplace effectiveness through discussion, site observation, space utilization and benchmarking studies
    • Develops and facilitates workshops and visioning sessions
    • Align organizational staffing and capabilities to ensure end-to-end expertise is applied to the pipeline of business activity
    • Build and preserve trusting relationships with our internal customers by developing a complete understanding of business unit’s strategic direction, their goals, challenges, key initiatives, and assumptions.
    • Willingly challenge and influence the business where necessary to clearly convince the business how real estate and workplace solutions can drive business outcomes.
    • Develop and maintain exceptional working relationships with leaders across business operations (IT, Security, Integration,  Marketing/Internal Communications, and HR), Facilities and Real Estate partners (Strategy & Alignment, Operations, and Real Estate team members) and other business partners, consultants and project managers.
    • Update metrics per project and help support internal benchmarking reports.
    • Confidently and effectively lead Workplace Strategy team, including training, employee development, mentorship, and upholding a culture of reward and recognition.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Experience with workplace strategy implementation or commercial architecture, workplace planning and programming, or building construction is a plus
    • Must demonstrate competencies in the following areas:
      • Commercial, secure space, and lab design and construction
      • Expert knowledge of key components for project management, including associated tools and methodologies
      • In-depth knowledge of principles for facility planning
      • Branding, identity, change management, and engagement initiatives
      • Space planning and conceptual design
      • Soliciting and documenting business requirements with regard to workplace planning
      • Key metrics associated with portfolio rationalization and workplace strategy
      • Project management governance, playbook, and Integrated Workplace Management Systems (IWMS)
      • Ability to handle multiple tasks, manage time effectively, and establish priorities to meet deadlines in a fast-paced team environment
      • Experience in program implementation and organization
      • Demonstrates intellectual curiosity and comfort with ambiguity and complex challenges

      • Proficient in MS Office Suite (MS Word, Power-Point, Excel, Project)
