  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in software engineering or a related technical field is required (or equivalent experience), plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. Agile experience preferred.

     

    CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:

    A Department of Defense security clearance may be required. Applicants selected may be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Responsibilities for this Position

     

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an opening for an Advanced DevOps Engineer.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

     

    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

     

    Advanced DevOps Engineers participate in the design and development of systems software infrastructure, software applications, and/or tools for new programs and subprograms.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES may include the following:

    • Participate in the full software life-cycle development using object oriented methodologies and real time operating systems
    • Apply principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis to the development of software
    • Integrate with and support Software Engineers in the development process
    • Assist with design activities and documentation
    • Participate in internal review of software components and systems
    • Integrate and test software and systems
    • Investigate and solve problem reports

    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    Candidates must show a passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of software systems and applications, and the ability to effectively manage, grow and evolve General Dynamics Mission Systems software solutions.

     

    The successful candidate must have experience with the following:

    • DevOps and Continuous Delivery
    • Linux Make / Makefiles
    • BitBake
    • Jenkins or other CI/CD orchestration tools
    • Development with PERL / Python / Other scripting languages
    • Software development experience in a Linux environment
    • Demonstrated solid ability to grasp and apply new information quickly

     

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

    • Embedded System Development with C/C++
    • PetaLinux / other RTOS
    • FPGA Integration
    • Development / Support for isolated network environments
