  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree.

     

    CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
    Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

     

    Additionally, applicants must meet the eligibility requirements for a controlled billet in accordance with DoD Instruction 5210.42 Personnel Reliability Program (PRP). 

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for an Installation and Test Engineer.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

     

    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
    May help plan task and sub tasks within a plan
    Executes the test approach and documents system verification throughout the engineering development life-cycle
    Assists in the generation of system test work products by applying the appropriate standards, processes, procedures and tools
    Assists in the development of test and diagnostic programs, designs test fixtures and equipment, and completes specifications and procedures for new products
    Assists in the development of and conducts functional, environmental, operational, and/or performance tests on hardware, software, and systems
    Assists with the design, development and implementation of cost-effective methods of testing and troubleshooting of hardware, software and systems for all phases of project development
    Isolates and documents issues and defects through problem reporting systems
    Supports the generation of technical engineering products by using the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle
    Researches and analyzes data, such as customer design proposals, specifications and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
    Follows direction and is accountable for the successful completion of tasks, thereby making a significant contribution to the team

    Field work is required for installation and testing activities

    Reviews integrated master schedules to track timelines for execution.

    Receives direction from supervisor on technical objectives of assignments
    Demonstrates understanding of commitments and interdependencies
    Promotes process/policy compliance
    Supports continuous improvement initiatives
    Frequent contact with multiple work groups

    Works independently or within a team to execute duties of position

    Occasional outside business contact with contract customer
    Focuses on becoming a subject matter expert (SME) in a particular technical area for current and future projects
    Travel may be required, usually less than 10%
    Security clearance is required to conduct work on this position
    Keeps abreast of technology trends

    Very solid knowledge in use and understanding of test engineering concepts, principals and theories

    Very solid knowledge and experience with object oriented programming, system processes and scripting languages
