  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

     

    CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
    Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

     

     

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a System Test Engineer in support of the Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO) component of an established Cross Domain Solution (CDS).  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

     

    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

    • Serve as a key test resource for the DCO component of the CDS
    • Execute the test approach and document system verification throughout the engineering development lifecycle
    • Plan, develop, document and execute the test strategy and plan for verifying functional and security-based requirements
    • Develop and conduct functional, environmental, operational, and performance tests on hardware and software.
    • Assist with the design, development and implementation of cost-effective methods of testing and troubleshooting of hardware, software and systems for all phases of product development and manufacturing.
    • Provide weekly status to management
    • Maintain the integrity and security of servers and systems 
    • Interact with third-party technology vendors, customers and internal technical staff
    • Travel to sites as required



    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Must have hands-on experience developing, writing and executing system test procedures
    • Possess strong system integration and debug skills
    • Working knowledge of Linux and VMWare
    • Working knowledge of Enterprise infrastructure elements (servers, storage, networking)
    • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
    • Take ownership of getting project deliverables done on schedule and within budget
    • Show initiative on assignments, exercises independent judgment and professionally executes projects with little direction
    • Utilize skill set to help more inexperienced team members to be more effective

    Additional Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

    • Enterprise Management Data Collection and Analysis
    • Pitbull OS experience a plus
    • Virtual Machines – VMWare
    • Rational Team Concert (RTC)
    • System/Network Monitoring Tools
