  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree.

     

    CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
    Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

     

    Additionally, applicants must meet the eligibility requirements for a controlled billet in accordance with DoD Instruction 5210.42 Personnel Reliability Program (PRP). 

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Network Engineer.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

     

    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

    Maintain network integrity and connectivity; ensure compliance with information security policies and maintain system backup and recovery capability.

    Assists in managing the usage and performance of voice, video and/or data communications networks.

    Managing networks with industry standard platforms, Network Performance Analysis, Cisco IOS Network Configuration, and Network Troubleshooting 

    Works as individual contributor using defined resources to meet project requirements 

    Gathers and organizes data for review with appropriate engineer(s) in support of project 

    Accepts direction from group leadership along with working independently

    Integrates well in a team environment

    Performs research and engineering laboratory functions involving the layout, building, testing, troubleshooting and repairing of devices, assemblies, subsystems, and systems

    Prepares and coordinates the plans and schedules for new or existing programs

    Resolves proposal preparation problems and assesses the progress against established plans and parameters

    Formulates and recommends corrective action measures such as schedule revisions, manpower adjustments, fund allocations, and work requirements

    Participates in engineering teams supporting experiment design, materials, equipment setup and maintenance and related issues

    Provides technical expertise to customers, users or company personnel either at domestic or international field sites

    Develops, implements, installs, tests, modifies and/or operates complex equipment and systems 

    Develops test plans and preventative maintenance programs

    Instructs customers in the operation and maintenance of the system 

     

    Current DoD 8570 Certification, IAT Level I (Comptia Security +CE and 1 qualifying Computing Environment certification (For example, Microsoft MCP certified, Comptia A+)

    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    Experience with VMware management and virtualization products. VCP or VCA certifications are a plus

    CompTIA Networking+ / CCENT, CompTIA A+, CCNA, Enterprise Desktop Support Technician, MCSA

    Active Directory, Group Policies

    Familiarity with configuring/troubleshooting servers, Cisco Routers/Switches, VLAN Routing, TCP/IP, and security protocols

    Experience with Information Assurance – HBSS, ACAS, WSUS

    Networking Technologies (DNS, DHCP, WINS) 

    Database Management (Oracle, MySQL)

    Familiarity working under or a part of configuration management, and or change management controls.

    Applies company policies and procedures to resolve routine issues

    Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained

    Creative, innovative responsibilities requiring advanced decision-making skills

    Follow very detailed instructions on work assignments, knows when to stop and ask questions

    Clear understanding of basic principles, theories, and concepts

    Clear understanding of industry standards and practices

    Solves routine problems of limited scope and complexity following established policies and procedures 

    Contributions are usually limited to task- related activities
