  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree.


    Department of Defense TOP SECRET security clearance is REQUIRED within 24 months of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Sr. Systems Infrastructure Engineer.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.



    This position will fill a member of a team responsible for the overall day-to-day operations of Engineering environments that include, but are not limited to the following qualifications and tasks:

    • Proficient with maintaining best practice environments of physical and virtual systems (VMware vSphere ESXi)
    • Proficient installing and managing RedHat Linux systems, applications and environments and ensuring those systems comply with government security standards
    • System Administration experience from hardware to applications
    • Demonstrated ability to assist in developing and implementing plans for upgrades and system enhancements
    • Strong troubleshooting skills within operating systems, networking, and storage technologies
    • Thorough understanding of Network Attached Storage (NAS), Storage Attached Networks (SAN)
    • Hands-on experience with backup systems, risk management, and data recovery



    • Ensure infrastructure is secure, reliable, flexible, integrated and anticipates future needs
    • Perform OS and vendor software patching on devices
    • Configure and maintain network-related interfaces on devices
    • Troubleshoot network hardware and software applications, OS upgrades, and security systems to resolve operational issues and restore services
    • Conduct systems analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies
    • Install new software, grant permissions to applications and train users
    • Create/run scripts and tools to automate repetitive processes and provide inputs for improvements
    • Handle all levels of support

    • Subject matter expert in researching and troubleshooting complex technical issues


    Comfortable and familiar working in Restricted Engineering Development Labs a plus

    Comp-TIA Linux+, Network+ and A+ certified or equivalents a plus

    Knowledge of Windows Server, Solaris, Sun OS a plus

    Knowledge of Docker, Ansible, Kubernetes a plus

    Knowledge of VDI (VMware Horizon) a plus

    Knowledge of DevOps Administration (GitLab, Ansible, SonarQube, Jira, Bamboo, Bitbucket, Confluence, Crucible) a plus
