  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience. Agile experience preferred.

     

    CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
    Department of Defense security clearance is not required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Job Description: 

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Principal Signal Processing Systems Engineer.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

     

    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

    The Senior Principal Signal Processing Systems Engineer will lead analysis, design, develop, and test of signal processing systems for General Dynamics Mission Systems engineering efforts. Additional responsibilities include leading algorithm development, profiling and porting, lead functional analysis, performance analysis, detail trade studies, systems integration and test (verification), validation of system, subsystem or system elements with little or no supervision.

     

    The Senior Principal Signal Processing Systems Engineer may also:

    • Lead formulating operational concepts; performing mission, functional, cost-benefit, and risk analysis; selecting systems architecture; and preparing specifications for General Dynamics Mission Systems operating systems to ensure designs meet applicable specifications.
    • Synthesize solutions to meet customer expectations and technical performance while staying within schedule and cost constraints
    • Research and analyze data, such as vendor products, COTS components, GFE/CFE, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
    • Perform or lead the development of technical strategies and teaming strategies on multiple projects
    • Lead small technical proposals and contributes to medium sized proposals
    • Exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments
    • Work on advanced architectures that may result in new business for the company
    • Design a complete and complex framework, system or product


    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

     

    • Substantial experience specifically in Radar Signal Processing (e.g. design requirements for radar systems, tactical or simulation algorithm prototyping or implementation)
    • Strong knowledge of radar signal processing and analysis
    • Proficient with MATLAB and C/C++ programming languages
    • RF background with a working knowledge of electronic scanned antennas, receivers, exciters, and digital signal processing
    • Demonstrate advanced decision-making skills while meeting creative, innovative responsibilities
    • Knowledge of hardware and software integration
    • Strong written and verbal communications skills


    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

     

    • Electronic Warfare (EW), Electronic Intelligence (ELINT) experience
    • Hold active Secret Level DOD Clearance
    • Modeling and Simulation activities
    • Single and multi-processor/core environments
    • Familiar with vector/signal processing libraries
    • Coursework and/or experience with digital signal processing, probability theory, stochastic signal processing, and electromagnetic theory

     

    PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES:

     

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Math, Physics, or equivalent
