  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in a related specialized area or field or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.

     

    Required Skills:

    • Experience with disassembling and reassembling electronic devices such as computers and associated peripherals
    • Understanding of hard drive architecture and connection types
    • Understanding of cell phone architecture
    • Department of Defense Certified Digital Media Collector certification or eligibility to take
    • Documentation and written communication skills
    • Understanding of cell phone Operating Systems
    • Familiarization with EnCase, dc3dd, Cellebrite UFED, Microsystemation XRY
    • Advanced troubleshooting skills


    CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
    Department of Defense SECRET security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

     

     

     

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Digital Forensics / Imaging Specialist.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

     

    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
    •Performs forensic analysis of digital information using standard computer forensics and evidence handling techniques, gathers and handles evidence, and conducts peer reviews of cases completed by other examiners and mentors less experienced examiners
    •Uses forensically sound procedures to identify network computer intrusion evidence and identifies perpetrators 
    •Investigates computer fraud or other electronic crimes
    •Employs forensic tools and techniques to crack file and system passwords, detects steganography and recovers deleted, fragmented and corrupted data from digital media of all types
    •Observes proper evidence custody and control procedures (chain of custody), documents procedures and findings in a manner suitable for courtroom presentation and prepares comprehensive written notes and reports

    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

     

     

    Desired Skills:

     

    • Familiarization with computer file systems
    • Familiarization with gaming consoles (PlayStation, XBOX etc)
    • Possess Hard Drive and/or Cell Phone repair skills


    PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE:

     

    18-22 years of professional experience without a degree; or 10-14 years of professional experience with a Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education; or 8-12 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree; or 4 years of professional experience required with a related PhD or JD.
