  • Basic Qualifications

    Candidates should demonstrate a thorough understanding of engineering technology.  Engineering Interns must be enrolled in an accredited degree program in Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related scientific or technical discipline with a preference for a standing of a sophomore or higher.  

     

    Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    Engineering Interns perform design, development, analysis, and test in areas such as electrical, computer, mechanical, optical or communication systems.  Their work assists with General Dynamics Mission Systems development and production of complex engineering systems.  This role will require cross functional (IE: electrical/mechanical) thinking.

     

    Experience or knowledge in control systems, communication systems, or optical systems is desired.

     

    Representative Duties and Tasks:

    Apply your classroom-learned skills to a program supporting the defense of our country.  GDMS has an immediate opening for an Engineering Intern to join our team.  The position provides an opportunity to work on projects that support some of our nation's fundamental defense services.  GDMS employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

     

    The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams on various technical projects associated with our core mission.  In addition to receiving a competitive wage, the Engineering Intern will enhance their skill set by working among a talented and technically accomplished group of colleagues.  Interns will also enjoy a flexible work environment where contributions are recognized and rewarded.

     

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Exercise creative thinking and ideation to advance our business performance
    • Deliver innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers' changing business needs
    • Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the General Dynamics Mission Systems culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures
    • Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure General Dynamics Mission Systems' services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices
    • Conduct electrical/mechanical design, integration, and test
    • Participate in formalized testing and analysis
    • Document results in reports and present technical findings to leadership
