  • Basic Qualifications

    Education Requirements:

    Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience. Agile experience preferred.

     

    Clearance Requirements:

    Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance with a Polygraph is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Systems Engineer.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

     

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Leadership experience
    • Background in Telecommunications
    • Experience working with CNO tools
    • Experience with the Software Engineering lnstitute's CMMI model, Microsoft Office products, Microsoft Project
    • Familiarity with software development and various software development lifecycle models
    • Demonstrated use, understanding and tailoring of systems engineering concepts, principles, and theories
    • Demonstrated proficiency with requirements management, system design & system modeling tools
    • 10 years of experience in planning, developing, and implementing systems engineering practices and processes
    • 10 years of experience in three (3) or more of the following:
      • Work breakdown structures
      • Project schedules and estimates
      • Requirements definition and analysis
      • Requirements traceability
      • Requirements verification and validation
      • Configuration management
      • Risk management

    Responsibilities to include:

    • Leads requirements analysis, requirements definition, requirements management, functional analysis, performance analysis, system design, detail trade studies, systems integration and test (verification), validation and interface definition studies of system, subsystem or system elements with little or no supervision
    • Leads the solution design and implementation aspects of engagement(s) ensuring quality, integrated software solutions within constraints of time and budget
    • Performs requirements gathering, analysis, reviews, and create and maintain requirements traceability matrices
    • Develops system requirements specifications, design documents, user manuals and readiness reviews
    • Leads customer requirements analysis, develops system requirements and defines allocations to lower levels (subsystem, elements and components
    • May provide system accreditation/certification evaluation and test support to ensure all technical security features (e.g., identification, authentication, access control, labeling, and auditing) of the system are considered and function properly
    • Researches and analyzes data, such as vendor products, COTS components, GFE/CFE, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
    • Utilizes industry best practices, product knowledge, and business acumen to analyze business needs and recommends and implements product enhancements to help ensure solution meets objectives
    • Effectively chooses the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support the generation of technical engineering products

    Preferred Skills:

    • Experience with Agile software tools (preferably Jira and Confluence)
