  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience to meet managerial expectations.

     

    CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
    Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Business Development Manager.  The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation’s fundamental defense services.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

     

    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
    •Leads business development activities of products and/or services to government agencies or private firms doing government business
    •Maintains key business development contacts with current and potential customers
    •Evaluates and manages new business opportunities, initiatives, partnerships, alliances and/or joint ventures
    •Oversees market analysis, monitors competitive activity, and identifies customer needs
    •Serves as capture manager for assigned opportunities
    •Defines vision, strategies, and tactics for assigned business development opportunities
    •Assists in the formulation of advertising campaigns and approves publicity releases and promotional activities
    •Advises higher management on status or action required in connection with existing and potential business development opportunities
    •Develops and administers schedules, performance requirements
    •May have budget responsibilities
    •Provides leadership in the planning, designing, due diligence, and implementing of strategic business objectives
    •Directs the development of short- and long-range objectives and recommends goals to higher management

    Over 50% travel with ability to conduct business independently and professionally throughout market

    Able to articulate examples of having identified, pursued and won capture efforts in areas related to GDMS business
    Strong understanding of specific areas within assigned market awareness, to include budgets, customer priorities, mission gaps and market dynamics
    Maintains a strong knowledge of government contracting and acquisition practices
    Able to thrive in a highly interactive team environment
    Demonstrates strong interpersonal, communication, collaboration and leadership skills
    Demonstrated ability to build relationships with customers and internal counterparts
    Works well under pressure with the ability to simultaneously deliver on multiple tasks and/or priorities
    Responsible for establishing and achieving operational objectives for a moderately complex function or project
    Expected to integrate complex activities
    Develops solutions to a variety of complex problems
    Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends
    Interacts with internal and external personnel at various levels on significant matters often requiring coordination between organizations
    Represents organization as a prime contact on opportunities or projects
    Participates and presents at meetings with internal and external representatives
    Works collaboratively with resources external to the functional or project team
    Defines and communicates clear roles, responsibilities, and objectives for all team members
    Assignments are defined in terms of activities and objectives

    PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Demonstrated ability to shape and capture business opportunities within the US government
    • Proven, relevant and current industry business experience or operational experience with Air Force, Army, and Navy is preferred
    • Knowledge of encryption, key management, cross-domain, or multi-level security technologies across government and industry participants is preferred
    • Knowledge of, and existing relationships with Avionics platform PEOs and providers is a plus
    • Knowledge of, and existing relationships with SAP mission PEOs and providers is a plus
