  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in software engineering or a related technical field is required (or equivalent experience), plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience. Agile experience preferred.


    Department of Defense SECRET security clearance is required within a reasonable period of time. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    We have an immediate opening for a Tactical High Performance Computing Software Architect. This position provides an opportunity to design and develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense systems. We work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.


    The Tactical High Performance Computing Software Architect leads the development of next generation high performance radar and sensor signal processing for some of the world's most advanced defense systems.


    Responsibilities include:

    • Applies principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis to the development of complex solutions
    • Provide technical leadership to software engineering teams
    • Organize a team around the architecture and performs lead planning activities
    • Applies and champions the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Design and deliver next level, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customer's changing business needs
    • Frequently contributes to the development of innovative principles and ideas, applies advanced technical principles, theories and concepts
    • Rapidly absorb new knowledge bases and incorporate them into new and existing architectures
    • Engage in programs, projects and practices behind the General Dynamics Mission Systems culture and strategy
    • Follow industry trends and developments to ensure General Dynamics Mission Systems’ services are consistent with or superior to, industry best practices


    Candidates must show a passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of software systems and applications, and the ability to effectively develop and lead software solutions.


    Candidates must be experienced with the following software development skills:

    • Architecting a complex high performance parallel processing computational software system
    • Software/Systems architecture
    • Software requirements analysis
    • Message Passing Interface (MPI) for parallel programming
    • C/C++ embedded application software development
    • Embedded operating systems including Linux and RTOS environments
    • High Speed Network technologies such as 40 GB Ethernet and RDMA over Ethernet (RoCE)
    • Ability to negotiate with stakeholders and customers
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills


    • Radar Signal Processing applications
    • Multi-node/Multi-threaded applications
    • Distributive Component Architecture
    • High Speed industry standard data bus technologies
    • UML modeling


    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
