  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in software engineering or a related technical field is required (or equivalent experience), plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. Agile experience preferred.

     

    CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
    Department of Defense SECRET security clearance is required within a reasonable period of time. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Advanced Software Engineer. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology of our nation’s core defense systems. We work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

     

    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

    The Advanced Software Engineer conducts or participates in the design development, and integration development of systems software, software applications and tools for tactical high performance computing programs.

     

    Responsibilities may include the following:

    • Develop, debug, and optimize MPI for scalable, multi-node radar signal processing computer using high-speed network hardware.
    • Participate in the full software life-cycle development using object oriented methodologies and Real Time Linux operating system
    • Implement software in C/C++
    • Integrate and test software and systems
    • Develop and test software benchmarks
    • Investigate and solve problem reports

     

    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    Candidates must show a passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of software systems and applications, and the ability to effectively grow and evolve software solutions.

     

    Candidates must have:

    • Experience in Message Passing Interface (MPI) for parallel programming
    • Embedded Real Time Linux operating system knowledge
    • Significant experience with C/C++ embedded application software development
    • Software development experience in a Linux environment

     
    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

    • Radar Signal Processing applications
    • Multi-node/Multi-threaded applications
    • Network (socket) and network protocol programming
    • Demonstrated experience working in a team environment


    PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES: 

    Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
