Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience. Agile experience preferred.

This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems is looking for an individual with 5 or more years of practical experience applying Model Based Systems Engineering in the development of large systems.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
The System Model Development Lead will be responsible for:
Customization of "out of the box" modeling tool/environment (e.g. script development) to meet the needs of the systems engineering organization
Development and the institutionalization of Modeling standards, guidelines, and best practices to ensure consistency across the systems engineering organization.
Model integration (e.g. System Of System model integration) strategies and infrastructure implementation
Development and institutionalization of Model Configuration Management process and infrastructure
Development of model component reuse libraries
Experience using Magic Draw Modeling Tool and associated tools
Ability to work across large engineering organization driving modeling application, standards, and consistent quality
Ability to engage and influence modeling application, infrastructure, strategies, across a multi-contractor integrated team (Modeling applied to a System of Systems)
Ability to develop and deliver modeling training to in-house personnel
Leads Modeling and Simulation activities
Performs requirements analysis, requirements definition, requirements management, functional analysis, performance analysis, system design, detail trade studies, systems integration and test (verification), validation and interface definition studies of system, subsystem or system elements with minimal supervision of the lead systems engineer
Performs technical planning, cost and risk analyses, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for subsystems and system elements
Performs customer requirements analysis, develops system requirements and defines allocations to lower levels (subsystem, elements and components)
Performs detailed technical analyses for a system, subsystem or system elements
Contributes to detailed technical analyses at the system of system (SOS) level
Supports the generation of technical engineering products by using the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle
Researches, designs, and develops systems, in conjunction with software and hardware product development, applying principles and techniques of systems engineering, modeling and simulation and analysis
Provides leadership and/or direction to lower level employees
Guides the successful modeling activities of major programs and projects
Creative, innovative responsibilities requiring advanced decision-making skills
Defines processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility
Designs a complete and complex framework, system or product
Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel (Team Lead)
Frequent contact with project teams across the company
Frequent contact with external customers and vendors
Works without appreciable direction
