  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in a business related field, or a specialized area, field or the equivalent is required plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience to meet managerial expectations.

    Department of Defense TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance is required at time of hire. Current Restricted 2 clearances desired. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Business Development Manager.  The position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out critical national security missions supporting intelligence collection, processing and dissemination.


    The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to identify and help acquire new business ventures for General Dynamics Mission Systems and its customers.     • Lead Restricted 2 business development efforts in support of growing the GDMS SIS business by successfully identifying and capturing new business.
    • Responsible for developing customer connections, improving customer relationships and intimacy through effective communication and understanding key customer trends.
    • Support Strategic Planning activities in developing a growth orientated market strategy capable of delivering against the growth objectives for the SIS line of business.  Lead the capture of large, critical, strategic business opportunities to a “win” while meeting budget and process requirements.
    • Serve as a capture manager, review team lead or participant on critical, strategic proposals. The position reports to the Business Area Director for the TCP business.



    • Candidates should demonstrate sophisticated research and analysis skills, as well as an ability to further evolve the General Dynamics Mission Systems business.
    • Candidates must have at least five plus years of proven experience capturing and winning new business in the Virginia Intelligence market.
    • Candidates must have a demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and manage a high performance team of professionals towards achieving business objectives. This includes experience running black hats, analyzing competitive landscapes, leading review teams, and the ability to develop and implement creative strategies into winning bids including a thorough understanding of price to win analysis.
    • Candidates must demonstrate strong quantitative and analysis skills to analyze market and customer trends and be well versed in industry practices/trends/leaders with knowledge of respective acquisition/procurement policies and regulations.
    • Candidates must also possess excellent written/verbal communications skills, presentation skills, organizational time management skills; team building skills, and display a strong sales presence.
    • This position does require the ability to support planned travel to customer and work locations outside of the DC Metro Area
