  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience to meet managerial expectations.

     

    CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
    Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

     

     

    Responsibilities for this Position

    The Strategic Product Manager (SPM) is a key member of the GPS Source business team who, with input from that team, will be responsible for the definition and execution of GPS Source product strategies and priorities.  The SPM will own and guide products through the entire product lifecycle from conception to launch and eventually to obsolescence.  This position reports directly to the VP, Director of GPS Source and will act as the liaison between S&M, Finance, Order Administration, Engineering, Manufacturing, Planning, etc., ensuring smooth transitions and sound product strategies throughout the product lifecycle. The SPM will possess strong written and verbal communication skills, demonstrate sound technical understand of Positioning, Navigation and Timing systems, be extremely well organized, detail-oriented, and customer-focused. The SPM will thrive in a team-oriented and results-oriented environment, welcome challenges, embraces changes, is creative, and can learn in a fast-paced environment.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Define Product Strategies & Business Plan:
      • Based on input from Sales, Business Development, Finance and Marketing, as well as individual market study, analyze market opportunities to develop Product & Business Strategies/Plans that will exploit GPSS strengths (RF, GPS Systems, A-PNT Systems, AS9100, etc.) and properly align GPS Source assets to maximize ROI.
      • The Business Plan should include an analysis of the value chain and derivation of the value proposition, and should clearly define how the business plan aligns with the overall corporate plan/objectives and additional synergies with other business activities
      • The Product Strategy & Business Plan should include a detailed business case & analysis
      • The Product Strategy should include clearly define Product Requirements
      • The Product Strategy & Business Plan should include evaluation of competing products or technologies
      • The Product Strategy & Business Plan should include a product launch plan developed jointly with S&M
      • The Product Strategy & Business Plan should include Product Lifecycle management plan
    • Liaison Between S&M, Finance, Engineering, Planning, Manufacturing, and Quality
    • Product sales structure (e.g Define product options, setup of sales enterprise SW configuration, etc.)
    • Sales and Business Development pre-sale technical support on large leads
    • Capture of market trends and product requirements via S&M and BD support activities
    • Prioritize projects within engineering and own product development priorities
    • Lead/manage GPS Source Product Owners in the definition of new product features, prioritization of the product roadmap, and documentation of detailed requirements/specifications (PRS) for new products and changes to existing products, taking into account:
    • GPS Source Organizational Goals, short-term and long-term
    • Competitive Outlook
    • Industry/Market Direction
    • Resource Constraints
    • Financial Constraints
    • Required Timeline
    • Work closely with team members to implement PRS and deliver high quality finished product.
    • Lead/manage Product Owners in coordination with project manager and engineering lead to develop project scheduling, project sizing and scoping as well as developing back-up plans/scenarios to ensure timely launch
    • Lead/manage Product Owners in coordination engineering and QA to ensure complete test plans are developed and documented, ensuring product compliance to requirements specifications
    • Lead/manage Product Owners to ensure all owned projects are accurately documented from start-to-finish. 

    Qualifications

    • MBA or equivalent experience required
    • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering preferred
    • Military or DOD contractor experience strongly preferred
    • Versed in Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) Systems and Applications
