  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or IT is required or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for an advanced Business Development Operations Specialist. The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation’s fundamental defense services.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

    • Provides periodic reports and measurement on business development activities to determine effectiveness and efficiency
    • Creates and provides ad hoc reports and measurements on business development activities
    • Provides analysis of new business opportunities to produce actionable management information
    • Monitors and reports on New Business Funds budgets and usage
    • Administers and supports Business Development tools
    • Provides training for Business Development tools, processes, and practices
    • Analyst/Consultant oriented position requiring research leveraging quantitative and economic background to identify cause and effect and recommend a solution.
    • Manages updates, changes, and modifications to the information systems to improve customer functionality, capture of meaningful data, and support changes in the BD process.

     

    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Fully proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other IT systems used in their position
    • Fully proficient quantitative and analytical skills for collecting data and analyzing business performance
    • Fully proficient understanding of business development and capture process
    • Demonstrates understanding of business strategies and technical issues as they relate to business growth
    • Maintains a fully proficient knowledge of government contracting and acquisition practices
    • Ability to accept and execute assignments that are defined in terms of activities and objectives
    • Fully proficient ability to schedule and arrange own activities in accomplishing objectives
    • Fully proficient skills and ability to select methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
    • Fully proficient knowledge, skills, and ability to work on issues of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors
    • Knowledge, skills, and ability to develop solutions to a variety of complex problems
    • Ability to interpret and follow policies, processes, and procedures and apply established precedents
    • Ability to effectively perform work with little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments
    • Ability to manage work at a level where erroneous decisions or failure to achieve objectives would
      normally have a serious effect upon the administration of the organization
    • Fully proficient interpersonal and communication skills
    • Ability to interact with senior internal personnel on matters requiring coordination between organizations
    • Ability to represents organization as a principle contact on opportunities or projects
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with different elements of a business organization
    • Ability to work effectively in a highly interactive team environment
    • Ability to provide work direction to other employees; lacks authority to discipline or reward

     

    PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Business Development or Capture Management experience is desired.
