    Associate’s degree is required or equivalent experience plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

     

    Clearance Requirements:

     Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Lab Support Technician.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

     

    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

    • Provide the day-to-day care of the system components, provide the technical support for the users of the system, and assist in the configuration management of the system
    • Serve as lab team interface to users with technical issues
    • Duties include installing new software/hardware, troubleshooting, granting permissions to applications and training users
    • Perform server administration for server operating systems; primarily RHEL and Windows
    • Perform administration of physical and virtual servers using VMWare
    • Configure, maintain and troubleshoot network-related issues (servers and network eqpt)
    • Perform OS and vendor software patching on servers
    • Maintain and update asset records
    • Organize and maintain server and workspace rooms
    • Interact with local and off-site lab team members
    • Provide weekly lab status to management
    • Interact with third-party technology vendors and internal technical staff
    • Provide on-going support for the various development and test components associated with the infrastructure of a mission critical product
    • Potential travel to field sites as required to provide support for new product version installations and associated testing

     

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

    • Ability to attain new knowledge and apply to work assignments
    • Deploy, configure and support enterprise server solutions 
    • Configure and administer a variety of virtualized environments
    • Deploy, configure, and manage RHEL servers
    • Configure and manage network equipment, including switches, routers and firewalls
    • Configure and administer storage devices
    • Investigate and troubleshoot issues
    • Support operations and engineering in troubleshooting and resolving issues
    • Represent the organization as the customer contact
    • Create and execute scripts to perform needed system functions
    • Interact with management and senior customer personnel on matters requiring coordination across organizational lines
    • Ensure infrastructure is reliable, flexible, integrated and anticipates future needs 
    • Take ownership of getting project deliverables done on schedule and within budget
    • Show initiative on assignments, exercises independent judgment and professionally executes projects with little direction
