  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience to meet managerial expectations.

    J-STD_001, 002, IPC 610, MIL-STD-883, or NASA std's certification may be required within 30 days of hire.


    Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Quality Manager to oversee the Quality Assurance organization supporting Manufacturing and Testing of complex Circuit Card Assemblies and high performance computer and electronic systems produced at our Bloomington, MN location. This position provides an opportunity to manage, mentor, and grow the QA team to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.



    • Manages, mentors, and grows an existing team of 20+ Manufacturing QA Engineers, Technicians, and Specialists
    • Oversee and confirm production and quality management system audits
    • Assures compliance to in-house and/or external specifications and standards such as ISO 9001 and AS 9100
    • May conduct training on quality assurance systems, tools, and methods
    • Participate in and delegate assignments to others for developing solutions to a variety of complex and difficult manufacturing, test, and organizational problems, including effective Root Cause Analysis and Corrective/Preventive actions implementation
    • Develops, implements, and maintains technical quality assurance and control systems, methods, and activities
    • Defines and specifies the implementation of standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision, accuracy and reliability of company products
    • Participates in the reviewing of engineering designs to contribute quality requirements and considerations
    • Assists product support areas in gathering and analyzing data
    • Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the Quality Assurance function
    • Regular contact with internal customers (e.g.: Program Managers and Integrated Product Team members) and external customers (e.g.: DCMA, on-site and/or visiting customer reps)
    • Regular interaction with other departments such as Business Development, Engineering, Program Management, Supply Chain, Manufacturing/Operations, and Contracts.
    • Regular contact with suppliers and subcontractors
    • Interacts with all levels of management
    • Close collaboration with adjacent Quality Assurance functions such as Engineering QA and Materials/Supply Chain QA.
    • Serves as a primary point of contact for external auditors & teams representing customers and/or accredited Certifying Bodies.


    • Substantial understanding of electronic and mechanical technology
    • ESD control
    • Workmanship standards
    • Electronic and Mechanical drawing interpretation
    • Substantial knowledge of standards such as ISO 9001:2015, AS9100D, CMMI, ISO 14001, ASME, ANSI, EIA, etc.
    • Substantial understanding of contractual quality requirements and flow down
    • Program contractual requirements and flow down to internal and external manufacturing and test operations, including to suppliers/sub-contractors
    • Configuration management and change management procedures
    • Substantial engineering practices to enhance quality
    • Substantial knowledge of organizational and business policies and procedures, processes and government regulations
    • Skill in using PC applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Project, Sharepoint, etc.)
    • Knowledge and skill in use of basic inspection/measurement tools
    • Substantial knowledge and understanding of documentation, processing and production paperwork
    • Skill in using specific computer production tools for ERP/MRP implementation
    • Strong interpersonal and team-building skills
    • Demonstrates exemplary skills, knowledge and functions at a level beyond the requirements of the position
    • Fully capable of managing work, setting objectives and meeting commitments, and is an excellent team player
    • Typically has considerable experience in management of technical teams of professionals in a complex engineering and manufacturing environment
