  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) or Master's degree.

     

    CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:


    Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within a reasonable period of time. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Responsibilities for this Position

     

    General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) is seeking an Entry Level Systems Engineer to join our team. This is a great opportunity to use and grow your understanding of engineering concepts while learning new skills and collaborating with various personnel, as you support various areas of technologies ranging from computer network design, to wireless transmission design, to large system integration, to network management design.  This position will require rotation through Taunton, MA or Scottsdale, AZ prior to full time residence at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.

     

    As an Entry Level Systems Engineer you will have the opportunity to spend your time diving into specific assignments that have defined performance expectations and deadlines. You’ll get to network with experienced teammates, one of whom will be assigned as an advocate to provide behind-the-scenes info and answer questions. As part of the team you'll have a role in the systems engineering and design process: requirements analysis, design, development and integration, and internal reviews. You will have the opportunity to put your love of problem solving to work in a team environment.

     

    You'll gain even more experience as you:

    • Learn industry standards related to test activities, including transmission, networking, network management and Information Assurance
    • Build a foundation and grow your understanding of design and integration engineering concepts
    • Work in cross-disciplinary teams in a variety of fields
    • Participate in requirements analysis, requirements management, functional analysis, performance analysis, system design, trade studies, systems integration and test (verification)
    • Perform interface definition studies of system components and products under direct supervision
    • Support the generation of technical engineering products by using the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle

    QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

    • Hands on WIN-T experience;
    • R&D Network Maintenance Established Virtualized WAN for Managing Lab Assets for seamless efficient test environments and real world simulation
    • Configure WAN Management using Solarwinds and SNMP protocol to access lab devices locally and remotely at a central management location
    • Experience with VMWare, Cisco, Brocade, Palo Alto, and HP products. Including Routers, Switches, Servers, Firewalls, and Taclanes.
    • VMware – Configure Virtual environments for INC1 nodesConfigured Virtual network infrastructure (vSwitches and vmnics) in order to establish connections in the virtual environment locally and remotely
    • Configure Netapp NAS systems for central and redundant storage Virtual Network
    • HP servers – Help Configure the HP servers for VSS network for the RHNo   Support fielding of RHN VSS project as well as implementation of network upgrades to WINT Network Design
    • Support documents for hardware and software solutions on various programs including Secure Wireless and A/O Networks
    • Update existing documentation (Latest firmware, IOS images, initialization, etc.)
    • Testing of new images and network software to improve hardware
    • Experience with Linux VPN VMs to create inner VPN tunnel and Cisco Anyconnect to create outer VPN tunnel connections
    • Receives detailed instructions from immediate supervisor
    • Travel may be required

    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Working knowledge of the systems engineering concepts, principles, theories and overall process
    • Good ability to grasp and apply new information quickly
    • Good ability to handle more complex assignments as experience progresses
    • Shows initiative on assignments, and professionally executes projects with little direction
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
    • Applies company policies and procedures to resolve routine issues
    • Good written and verbal communications skills
