  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in software engineering or a related technical field is required (or equivalent experience), plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. Agile experience preferred.

     

    CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
    Department of Defense SECRET security clearance is REQUIRED at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Submarine Sonar Integration Engineer.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

     


    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Integration of deployed software into custom operating environment including Linux and Windows
    • Software development to create interface to control training systems
    • Design and development of system architecture to support training needs
    • Hardware troubleshooting and setup of servers, switches, and video equipment
    • Securing/Hardening of systems in order to protect against external and internal threats
    • Ownership of projects from a performance and schedule standpoint
    • Travel may be required
    • Active security clearance

     

    REQUIRED SKILLS:
    • Expertise with Linux operating system command-line interface (RHEL or CentOS preferred)
    • Ability to troubleshoot and debug software and operating system level issues
    • Experience with virtualization using qemu/KVM or other hypervisors
    • Bash Scripting

     

    PREFERRED SKILLS:
    • Software experience in C/C++ or java and ability to debug software issues in these languages
    • Experience with Navy Submarine SWFTS environments – particularly BQQ-10, BVY-1, or BYG-1 subsystems
