  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in a related specialized area is required or equivalent experience


    Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Candidates must be able to obtain a Secret clearance within a reasonable amount of time from date of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Government Property Specialist.  The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation’s fundamental defense services.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.


    Provides supporting documentation to be presented to DCMA/customer representatives and company personnel in matters pertaining to property management
    Assists in the performance of compliance audits and internal assessments of customer property related processes and initiates corrective actions with the appropriate parties
    May participate in supplier evaluations and audits of subcontractor/supplier facilities where government/customer owned property is assigned
    Verifies inventory and researches the supply code for proper classification
    Prepares the property disposition schedules prior to submission to customers
    Interfaces with government/customer representatives to verify property lots being submitted for disposition/reutilization
    Assists in the coordination of bid sales, and property burns/destruction with the warehouse, vendor and DCMA
    Reviews contract/PIA's for property related requirements and performs data entry into the property management system
    Provides support/assistance on property related matters to project and department personnel
    May perform training/orientation training for all levels of personnel
    Resolves report of discrepancy issues with project teams/customers
    Participates on process improvement teams
    Minimal supervision
    Work may be done without established procedures
    An entry-level position in a field of specialization

    A wide and comprehensive acquaintance with, and understanding of, both general and specific aspects of the job and their practical application to complex problems and situations ordinarily encountered
    Fully proficient and able to perform all responsibilities associated with the position
    Clear understanding and ability to grasp and apply new information quickly and handles more complex assignments
    Shows initiative on assignments, and professionally executes projects with little direction
    Working knowledge of IFS 
    Basic understanding of negotiation and persuasion skills
    Ability to problem solve utilizing analytical skills
    Ability to multi-task while maintaining focus on details

    Ability to prioritize workload
    Basic understanding of government compliance regulation
    Basic knowledge of industry practices and standards


    Ideal candidate would have a Bachelor's Degree, IFS experience, and knowledge of material and equipment handling

    Previous experience with Government property disposition and contract closeout would be preferred.

    Must have experience with Excel, Word, Outlook, Power-Point

    Must have effective communication skills!

    Must be able to work independently, but also work as a team with other Property Specialists.

    Member of National Property Management Association and Certified in Property is a Plus!
