    Candidates should demonstrate a thorough understanding of business principles. Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Interns must be enrolled in an accredited degree program with a preference in a related field.


    Successful completion of a drug screen and background check is required.  Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.


    Responsibilities for this Position


    Apply your classroom-learned skills to a program supporting the defense of our country. GDMS has an immediate opening for an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Intern to join our team in Cullman, AL. The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. This position will support program teams supporting the efforts.


    The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams on various projects of the GDMS organization and its clients.     Key Responsibilities


    The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Intern (Paid) will report directly to the Western Regional EHS Manager, but will take daily direction from the Cullman EHS Rep and will be part of the Cullman Team. Specific responsibilities, working within a team environment, will include:

    • Planning and Management to the ISO Standards for Environmental and Health and Safety
    • Performing Machine Guarding Assessments
    • Perform “In-House” Air Sampling
    • Develop, participate and work with the team on weekly Supervisors Meetings
    • Assist in weekly regulatory audits (to include conducting audits, reviewing data and revising any inspection processes as needed)
    • Analyze waste streams to help identify waste reduction opportunities
    • Support research into another Medical Support Group for Beryllium exposure and testing, learning the risks and hazards of working with Beryllium
    • Work with the team to support off-site locations such as Huntsville and Mobile, AL and Rochester Hills, MI, as needed


    These intern activities will provide the foundation for solid knowledge of safety and environmental tasks within the EHS field.
