Associate's degree in related discipline or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
Supports engineering activities such as design, test, check-out, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electro mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, laser/light transmission devices or specialized test equipment
Open to new ideas and can serve as a champion for change and acts to support change when directed from management
Constructs, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, tests, diagnoses, and maintains equipment, components, devices, or systems
Performs a variety of equipment/process operations involving an application or technical skills in a specific area (electrical, software, manufacturing, etc.)
Interprets complex engineering drawings, diagrams and schematics, and understand the necessary interfaces
Performs complex system level troubleshooting to component level
Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions
Works from schematics, engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions
Assists in development of revised product and programs
Defines performance capabilities of new equipment or processes
Defines complicated /unique preventative maintenance tasks
Utilizes a variety of systems to perform design and processing functions
Directs others in the design and construction of tooling and fixtures to accomplish unique tasks
Develops training plan programs for new technicians

Lays out, builds, calibrates, adjusts, installs and maintains equipment, components, devices or systems

May develop test specifications and procedures
May prepare reports, documentation/specifications as required
KEY KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Working knowledge, experience and understanding of the MPP and TSMS system and subsystem hardware and cabinet design.
Perform real time troubleshooting and problem resolution of technical hardware issues in the field with minimum or no supervision.
Manage and support all engineering lab duties and responsibilities.
Management and support for classified lab and processing equipment.
Build prototype, mechanical mockup, and test equipment hardware to production standards in a lab environment.
Use variety of electrical test equipment i.e. oscilloscope, spectrum analyzers, DVMs, etc.
Understand and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical engineering drawings.
Support generation of Engineering Change Instructions and field reports.
Travel to support hardware testing, debugging, repair, and/or update to equipment in the field (lab or on a boat/ship).
As a skilled specialist, completes tasks in resourceful and effective ways
Strong knowledge in specialized functions
Understands implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions
