    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for an IT Manager (Limited Access Areas) supporting the GDMS program development enclaves.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.



    • Leader of 20+ team members, performing Annual Reviews, development, training, team meetings

    • Maintains organization's effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans for implementing information technologies
    • Receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals and the process by which to meet goals
    • Works with staff and customer to determine system requirements and ensure timely service delivery
    • Seeks out learning opportunities to expand knowledge of IT concepts, processes and procedures, and to improve customer service
    • Under general supervision, analyzes information and/or technology needs of the customer and initiates design, planning, implementation or operations processes necessary to fulfill those needs
    • Leads a group of team members within a formal work break down element of a larger program
    • Leads a group of team members on a medium complexity program within the department
    • Works with other team members to establish measurements, monitor performance, establish processes and procedures
    • Effectively resolves conflict of personnel within team per company policies
    • Supports employee development and performance management of employees
    • Takes ownership and assume accountability on assigned tasks
    • Regular communications with senior members of internal team
    • Supports the GDMS culture and strategy, and complies with all policies and procedures
    • Performs risk mitigation
    • Leads, plans, and executes projects, small initiatives, and/or cross-functional teams
    • Manages high risk, high profile, tight schedule, and complex outcomes with composure
    • Breaks down "barriers to progress" & motivates less experienced members of the team to action
    • Performs other duties as directed
    • Moderate business travel required

    • Solid experience in planning and execution skills in support of projects or teams with limited oversight
    • Proven familiarity with common software tools including MS Visio, Excel, PowerPoint and Project
    • Proven track record of high level personal performance
    • Intermediate understanding of solutions development methodologies (e.g. DevOps, Agile, Software Development Lifecycle, etc.)
    • Industry certification in Six Sigma, Lean, PMI
    • Demonstrates an advanced degree of skills and innovation in resolving business or project related issues
    • Strong track record of being capable of working with significant uncertainty, resistance, barriers, issues and challenges; converting uncertainty into quantifiable impact, risk and mitigating actions
    • A history that illustrates flexibility and adaptability to changing business needs and shows exposure to overcoming fundamental change obstacles
    • Strong proficiency in use of influence skills to meet objective of team or project
    • Ability to adjust individual and team activities to changing conditions
    • Strong understanding of team roles and responsibilities
    • Strong ability to develop and analyze schedule and critical path
    • Strong understanding of business environment and how team or project support division/company goals
    • Strong skills in budgeting, planning, problem solving and cost analysis

    • Strong organizational skills including: leading initiatives and modest projects; a facility to handle multiple tasks and deliverables simultaneously; a track record of exercising independent judgment appropriately; and the ability to quickly understand and execute complex assignments when working on high profile outcomes with inherent risk
    • Strong presentation, oral/written communication, and inter-personal skills including the ability to: anticipate, influence & adapt to a wide range of audiences; cultivate relationships and leverage organizational understanding to facilitate decision making and buy-in
    • Advanced reporting to management / peers
    • Strong Negotiation skills
    • May be required to travel
    • Demonstrates ability to make sound decisions
