    Associate's degree in related discipline or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

     

    CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
    Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Advanced Preventative Maintenance Planner .  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

     

    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

    Advanced Preventative Maintenance Planner will engage in coordination of the Preventative Maintenance schedule and materials needed to accomplish preventative maintenance during Littoral Combat Ships (LCS) Freedom variant availabilities. The Preventative Maintenance Planner will maintain and update the PMS deck Maintenance Index Pages (MIPs) and associated Maintenance Requirement Cards (MRCs) Library for LCS Freedom variant. Updates shall be based on Force Revisions/Advance Change Notices (ACNs) issued by the cognizant Navy technical authority. The Preventative Maintenance Planner will report anomalies to technical management, condition found reports (CFRs), and maintain preventative maintenance status logs as required. When a discrepancy or error is noted in an MRC or a maintenance action is required to be altered due to equipment modification or modernization, identify the discrepancy to the Government and prepare a Technical Feed Back Report (TFBR) for submission to the Government for review and consideration. 

     

    This position will require the ability to work from tech manuals, vendor documentation, schematics, and engineering drawing to support the ship’s preventative maintenance efforts.  The Advanced Preventative Maintenance Planner will be expected to be proficiency in U.S Navy 3-M Preventative Maintenance System (PMS) policies and NAVSEALOGCEN policies. The Preventative Maintenance Planner will be based in San Diego, and will support the ship, including travel to other domestic ports and OCONUS ports as appropriate. The selected candidate will be expected to travel 10% of the time supporting Littoral Combat Ships (LCS-class ships) in a post-delivery environment. The candidate will work within the parameters and rules common to U.S. Naval vessels.

    Can be expected to lead, direct, organize Technician work
    Works with associates in other departments and understands cross-functional relationships
    Analyzes results and implements procedures for problems
    May prepare reports, documentation/specifications as required

    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    Experienced with Maximo Technologies or other similar technologies

    This individual must have strong oral and written communication skills and be proficient with typical PC applications to include Word, Project, Excel and Access

    Professional etiquette and ability to operate effectively in a distributed team environment and effectively communicate customer initiatives, strategy and mission needs

    Familiar with U.S. Naval protocol and the ability to work directly with interfaces in uniform and with engineers in other companies

    Effectively communicate site problems concerns and observations to management in a timely manner

    Superior organizational and time management skills

    Advanced knowledge of U.S. Navy Planned Maintenance System (PMS)

    Familiar with Work Authorization Forms (WAF) and Electronic Shift Operations Management System (eSOMS)

    As a skilled specialist, completes tasks in resourceful and effective ways
    Distinct knowledge in specialized functions
    Understands implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions
    A wide and comprehensive acquaintance with, and distinct understanding of, both general and specific aspects of the job and their practical application to complex problems and situations ordinarily encountered
