Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree with no minimum years of relevant experience. Social media certifications and/or coursework a plus.

 

Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a for a Social Media Manager at our headquarters in Fairfax, VA. We’re looking for a talented and energetic digital communicator to join our growing communications team and help enhance our social media presence. You’ll be responsible for managing our social media channels, creating content and implementing social strategies that support the business and efforts to recruit and attract top talent. In this role, you’ll become the primary social media expert responsible for advocating the use of social media and, equally important, advising when not to use social media or post.

 

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

  • Responsible for managing all company social media channels to include creating and posting content, user engagements and interactions
  • Edit, enhance and always ensure content is adapted to the respective social channel while maintaining consistent messaging and voice
  • Directly support and advise the Talent Supply Chain organization in communications and messaging and help manage their digital marketing campaigns.
  • Collaborate and work with the strategic communications team to develop social media campaigns and the content needed to execute them
  • Work with the digital team to manage and populate the editorial calendar to ensure content consistency and coordination across platforms and sites.
  • Work with communications leads including International business areas to ensure all social media posts are coordinated and messaging approved in advance.
  • Work with consultants / agencies to developing target audiences and purchasing ad space for posts across all channels.
  • Work with Strategic Communications teams and Business Leaders to create articles on company website for use on social media channels.
  • Develop ways to capture, analyze and act upon data to increase effectiveness of our social media campaigns
  • Present social media analytics and KPIs (as developed by you) in a variety of manners for a variety of stakeholders
  • Actively stay up on the trends and best practices and bring that expertise to the rest of the company
  • Act as our Social Media Advocate with employees and external influencers to extend our brand reach
  • Experiment with new techniques and technologies and exhibit curiosity to constantly want to improve engagement and results

 

 KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of social media and content creation experience
  • A proven track record managing social media channels that have delivered measurable results (technology and branding campaign experience a plus)
  • Top-notch communication skills, especially in writing and editing
  • The ability to summarize and simplify technical content for social media use
  • A positive attitude with a passion for communications
  • Exceptional collaboration skills with willingness to step outside your comfort zone to learn new things.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite especially Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Proficient in use of AP style
