CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within a reasonable period. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

We will rely on your professional expertise to develop, implement and maintain methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacturing or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will develop strong communications with internal teams to estimate manufacturing costs, determine time standards and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines. At GDMS, we continually seek ways to develop and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing our team’s knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.

What you bring to the table:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering, a related specialized area or field or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree
  • Solid knowledge with manufacturing processes, systems and applications
  • Solid understanding of lean techniques and statistical analysis
  • Polymer molding, processing and optimization experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of MRP/ERP Systems
  • Working knowledge of design software (Creo, Solidworks, etc)

Duties and Tasks:

 

  • Owner of molding processes and tools across product lines
  • Document and maintain procedures, process qualifications, work instructions, shop aids, routings, etc.
  • Provide technical input for Design for Manufacturing (DfM) and support the release of new product into production
  • Estimate manufacturing cost, determines time standards and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines
  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards
  • Develop, design, procure and support implementation of manufacturing process hardware, fixturing tools and software
  • Contact with project leaders and other professionals within the Operations, Manufacturing Engineering and Design Engineering group(s)
  • May have some contact outside Manufacturing or with external customers
  • Coordinates and makes non-conforming product disposition recommendations based on established technical requirements
  • Leads initiatives using six sigma methodology to determine extent of non-conformance root cause, and corrective action
  • Provide shop floor support and training to associates
  • Defines and documents equipment calibration and maintenance requirements
  • Implement, monitor and control process parameters (SPC)
  • Provide solutions to vendor issues as required
  • Monitor competitive benchmarks to ensure that current processes and equipment are competitive and cost effective
  • Develop and improves floor layouts and shop flow
  • Travel may be required
  • Security clearance may be required

  • Demonstrated proficiency in various types on polymer molding processes and equipment selection, mold design and material selection. 
  • Considerable professional expertise, applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues

  • Exercises considerable judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action

Salary Note

This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.

Combined Salary Range

USD $87,324.00 - USD $95,000.00 /Yr.
