Basic Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience.

 

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required/obtainable within a reasonable amount of time from hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems - Progeny Systems is a high-tech business focusing on software and hardware system integration, cutting-edge research and development, and manufacturing. We provide premium systems, services, and products for the Department of Defense, government agencies and commercial clients. 

 

Seeking an Advanced Mechanical Engineer to become an integral member of the engineering team dedicated to the development of military-grade electronics for the Common Weapon Launcher (CWL) system.  

 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Design and analyze components and electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Create and maintain mechanical solid models and drawings
  • Create and manage bills of material (BOM) within data management system
  • Develop fixtures and equipment to support testing and production efforts
  • Generate design and interface documentation
  • Develop technical presentations, recommendations, and written communications to explain technical issues to program management and the Navy customer
  • Participate in various technical and program meetings on a weekly basis

 

What sets you apart:

  • Strong proficiency with SolidWorks modeling CAD tools to create mechanical models and drawings
  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication methods, as well as technical, government, and industry standards
  • Experience with ruggedized electronics packaging for shipboard applications a plus
  • Experience with GD&T (ASME Y14.5) a plus
  • Collaborative, creative thinker with experience leading complex projects
  • Strong communication skills with ability to write technical papers and proposals

Salary Note

This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.

Combined Salary Range

USD $122,000.00 - USD $132,000.00 /Yr.
