We are seeking an enthusiastic Test Engineer / Test Analyst to join our USWDSS test and evaluation team. This position is ideal for a junior engineer or motivated professional looking to gain hands-on experience in systems testing within a mission critical Navy program. The successful candidate will support verification and validation efforts throughout the engineering lifecycle and play a key role in improving test coverage, accuracy, and system performance.

Execute test cases and procedures as defined in formal test plans
Support test documentation activities including test reports, logs, and status tracking
Perform functional, operational, and performance testing on software and systems
Assist with development and maintenance of test scripts, test data, and diagnostic tools
Support the setup and configuration of test environments, simulators, and stimulators
Isolate and document software/system issues and assist in bug triage and retesting
Apply test standards, processes, and tools to verify system compliance and performance
Learn and maintain traceability between requirements and test artifacts
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, integrators, and operational users
Follow direction from senior test staff and contribute to overall team goals
Participate in process improvement initiatives and support engineering best practices
Demonstrate a commitment to growing into a system subject matter expert (SME)
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related technical field
Strong interest in test engineering and system verification
Familiarity with test methods, engineering documentation, and defect tracking
Basic understanding of Linux environments (e.g., file systems, navigation, shell commands)
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and follow detailed instructions
Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and grow professionally
U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance
Prior military service as a Sonar Technician (STG) or Operations Specialist (OS)
Exposure to USW and USWDSS systems or other Navy tactical environments
Experience with Atlassian Jira and Confluence for test tracking and documentation
Understanding of scripting languages or object-oriented programming fundamentals
Exposure to agile or iterative software development processes
