Basic Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 8+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 6 years of job-related experience. Agile experience preferred.

 

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: [Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire.] Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:

 

This individual will lead a systems team performing analysis, design, implementation, and test activities as part of a strategic guidance system development effort.  Additional tasks include support of on-going Internal Research & Development (IRAD) activities in the area of inertial guidance.  These tasks are related to activities in our Advanced Guidance Lab (AGL) and include guidance concepts, technologies, PNT tools and lab infrastructure.  The selected candidate should also have good oral and written communications skills, and perform work assignments under minimal supervision, and support frequent communications within and across Integrated Product Teams. 


Additional Responsibilities

  • Must demonstrate a scientific background and the ability to further advance GDMS technology.
  • Must possess a Subject Matter Expert (SME) level knowledge experience of Systems Engineering and development of system architectures
  • Must possess the ability to lead large systems development efforts
  • Must possess manager experience and the ability to shape team culture
  • Must possess good communication skills, including with customer and project management
  • Candidates must demonstrate passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of various engineering systems and the ability to further advance General Dynamics Mission Systems technology.
  • Deliver innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers changing business needs
  • Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the General Dynamics Mission Systems culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures
  • Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure General Dynamics Mission Systems services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices

The preferred candidate should have some or all the following qualifications:

  • Electrical engineering experience
  • Embedded programming (C, C++, python, JavaScript) and microcontroller experience
  • Closed loop control experience
  • Digital signal processing experience
  • Simulation and modelling experience
  • Firmware architecture development experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of electronics and electrical systems
  • Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience
  • Agile Method experience
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence

Workplace Options:
This position is flex/hybrid.  On-site location is Building 130 at the Pittsfield location..

Salary Note

This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.

Combined Salary Range

USD $153,600.00 - USD $170,400.00 /Yr.
