You’ll ensure technical documentation, maintenance procedures, and training materials are fleet-relevant, accurate, and aligned with evolving system capabilities.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in design reviews, software implementation demos, and technical interchange meetings (TIMs)
  • Provide operational feedback on feature design and implementation impacts to engineering and technical writing teams
  • Validate and refine Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) content for usability, technical accuracy, and structural integrity
  • Collaborate with system engineers, software developers, and government stakeholders to resolve content discrepancies
  • Translate complex system behavior into maintainable and user-friendly technical documentation
  • Develop and review preventive maintenance procedures, troubleshooting guides, and configuration documentation
  • Support Navy testing events (both in labs and on submarines), including validation of test procedures
  • Participate in Configuration Control Boards (CCBs) and documentation review boards

What You’ll Experience:

  • Hands-on support of the cutting-edge Navy AN/BYG-1 submarine combat system
  • Technologies that aren’t just top-notch—they’re often top-secret
  • Opportunities to gain new knowledge and contribute directly to fleet readiness and performance
  • Travel supporting U.S. Navy vessels and shore-based test labs
  • Work closely with Navy operators, maintainers, and senior technical stakeholders

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) with 2+ years of relevant work, or Master’s degree with 3+ years
  • Fully proficient knowledge of ILS elements and Acquisition Logistics principles
  • Experience with IETMs, technical manual development, and documentation in accordance with DoD standards (MIL-STD-3001, 38784, 24784, 40051-2C)
  • Operational familiarity with SWFTS, CIS, or CCE components
  • Strong grasp of Navy maintenance procedures and philosophies, especially for combat systems
  • Experience working within Navy logistics systems such as CDMD-OA, TDMIS, or SCLSIS
  • Excellent technical communication, documentation, and stakeholder collaboration skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), XML authoring tools (XMLSpy) or similar, and diagramming in Visio
  • Comfortable interpreting schematics, interface documentation, and system configuration artifacts

What Sets You Apart:

  • Former U.S. Navy Fire Control Technician (FT) or SONAR Technician with Virginia, Seawolf, Ohio, or 688-class experience
  • Prior experience as a BYG-1/SWFTS Systems
  • Strong leadership presence and ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
  • Experience authoring content in multiple formats including HTML, PDF, XML, and S1000D-compliant IETMs
  • Instructional design experience and familiarity with Navy training development standards
  • Hands-on experience supporting operational testing and troubleshooting of submarine systems
  • Subject Matter Expertise (SME) in one or more related technical domains
