Basic Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor’s or Technology degree in Engineering or a related specialized area/field, or equivalent (4 years job-related experience). Requires an additional 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree with 3+ years of job-related experience.


CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:

As a Linux and Cloud Application Support Specialist for Space Dock, you’ll be a member of a cross functional team responsible for ensuring virtual machines and applications run successfully within a Platform As A Service environment.  The Linux and Cloud Application Support Specialist will be responsible for new installation and deployment of Platform As A Service systems, to include monthly systems updates and troubleshooting application or VM issues.  

 

You'll play a crucial role in keeping our platform, Bessemer, running smoothly for a growing base of customers. This is a hands-on role where your ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize live cloud environments will have a direct impact on mission success.

Our platform spans multiple cloud environments — AWS, Azure, and OpenStack — and we work with a wide variety of technologies. You’ll have the autonomy to own your work while collaborating with a supportive team that values knowledge-sharing, kindness, and technical excellence.

 

What You’ll Do

· Perform routine system maintenance

· Investigate and resolve live system issues

· Deploy our platform in new environments as needed

· Work directly with customers to solve problems and implement requested configurations

· Proactively identify improvements and automate recurring tasks

· Research, propose, and implement technical solutions to support evolving customer needs

 

What You’ll Bring

Must-Have Skills:

· Proficiency with Linux systems administration and troubleshooting

· Experience working with virtual machines

· Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or OpenStack)

· Tiered helpdesk experience

· Strong customer service and communication skills

· Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

 

Nice-to-Have Skills:

· Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration

· Familiarity with Ansible or other configuration management tools

· Scripting ability in Bash and/or Python

Workplace Options:

This position is NOT a remote opportunity.

This position is hybrid with scheduled on-site and in-office support.

While on-site, you will be a part of the Schriever Space Force Base operations and support team.

Must be able to obtain required CompTIA Security+ certification within 90 days of employment.   GDMS will cover the cost of the training and exam.

Salary Note

This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.

Combined Salary Range

USD $98,891.00 - USD $107,004.00 /Yr.
