Basic Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 8+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 6 years of job-related experience. Agile experience preferred.

 

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

GDMS is hiring for a Data Systems Architect with the proficiency required to design, implement, and maintain high bandwidth and large-scale storage systems.

 

Expected Skills and Qualifications

  • Data Architecture Design: Expertise in designing scalable and robust data architectures that can handle high volumes of data streams and user requests.
  • Database Management: Proficiency in various database technologies (SQL, NoSQL) and experience with database design, optimization, and management.
  • Cloud Computing: Experience with AWS, GovCloud, and Secret cloud environments for scalable storage solutions and data processing.
  • Data Integration: Knowledge of data integration techniques and tools for combining data from different sources.
  • Big Data Technologies: Familiarity with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and other data processing frameworks.
  • Performance Tuning: Skills in performance tuning and optimization of data systems to ensure efficient data processing and storage.
  • Security: Understanding of data security best practices and experience implementing security measures to protect sensitive data.
  • Programming: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala for data processing tasks.
  • Systems Engineering: Proficiency with SysML and system modeling processes, best practices, and tools
  • Networking: Basic knowledge of networking principles to ensure efficient data transfer and communication between systems.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve data system issues.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage projects and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation of data systems.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and present technical information to non-technical audiences.

 

Planned Duties and Tasks

  • Design scalable and robust data architectures.
  • Manage and optimize various database technologies (SQL, NoSQL).
  • Implement and maintain data integration techniques and tools.
  • Ensure high availability and performance of data systems.
  • Develop and implement data security measures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align data systems with business needs.
  • Conduct and present at in-development reviews with the government customer.
  • Analyze and advocate for system design decisions that address user requirements.
  • Conduct performance tuning and optimization of data systems.
  • Oversee data migration and transformation projects.
  • Monitor and maintain data storage solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

Salary Note

This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.

Combined Salary Range

USD $139,189.00 - USD $150,000.00 /Yr.
