Responsibilities for this Position

 

As a Principal Mechanical Engineer for Range Systems, you will:

  • Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams responsible for new product development and introduction, from concept through industrialization to final delivery.
  • Create and author mechanical designs, CAD models, and engineering drawings. Perform detailed analysis, simulations, and testing (e.g., FEA, structural, thermal, tolerancing, vibration) to ensure proper product functionality, manufacturability, and design margin.
  • Develop, build, and test proof-of-concept prototype designs to support the development of high-volume production products.
  • Utilize structured problem-solving methodologies to investigate, resolve, and identify opportunities to improve product performance, cost, and reliability.
  • Collaborate regularly with internal and external stakeholders (supply chain, manufacturing, purchasing, project management) to ensure successful product design and production launch.
  • Ensure designs meet regulatory, safety, and quality system requirements and compliance guidelines.
  • Grow and develop as an engineering and technical subject matter expert in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.

We want to hear from you if you have any of these preferred skills or experiences:

 

  • Commercial/Consumer product development experience (NPI/NPD Focus)
  • Experience with Solidworks and/or CREO
    Experience with ANSYS FEA or similar tool suite
  • Experience with EMC and design safety compliance with CE and UL/CSA
  • Significant experience in designing assemblies incorporating optics, PCBAs, and various types of hardware
  • Significant experience in materials use: from sheet metal to machined parts, plastics, and aluminum
  • Overseas manufacturing experience

  • Expertise with modeling CAD/CAM tools to create mechanical models and drawings
  • Expertise working with surfacing modeling tools such as Rhino
  • Expertise in plastics design, tooling, and high-volume manufacture +1M/units per product
  • Understanding of materials science as it relates to the selection of material for packaging design
  • Experience in integration of electronics with packaging
  • Hardware development from ideation, concept development through design, prototype and manufacture
  • Experience with Supply chain, Manufacturing engineering, PDM including building BOMs to
  • Exceptional communication skills, with notable record of securing buy-in on concepts and ideas
  • Experienced in the art of negotiation with keen ability to reconcile conflicting requirements and capabilities with internal and external stakeholders
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development for yourself and others
  • Collaborative, creative thinker with demonstrated success providing technical leadership on complex projects
  • Experience with wearable devices

This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.

Combined Salary Range

USD $178,916.00 - USD $198,485.00 /Yr.
