Bachelor’s degree in a related specialized area or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities for this Position

We are seeking an experienced Okta Architect / IAM Subject Matter Expert to join our Identity and Access Management (IAM) team. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and evolving enterprise IAM solutions that support secure access across a complex hybrid environment.

 

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Okta, federated identity, single sign-on (SSO), and identity lifecycle management, and will play a key role in executing an IAM roadmap that supports business operations, security requirements, and regulatory compliance.

 

Key Responsibilities

Okta Architecture & Engineering

  • Design, implement, integrate, and support Okta cloud technologies across the enterprise IAM environment.
  • Lead application onboarding and federation efforts using SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect, and related protocols.
  • Migrate applications from legacy IAM solutions to Okta, ensuring security, scalability, and minimal business disruption.
  • Create and maintain a roadmap for Okta capabilities, future integrations, and platform enhancements.
  • Evaluate existing applications to determine required updates or reconfiguration to support modern IAM patterns.

Identity Lifecycle & Access Management

  • Support workforce and partner identity use cases, including provisioning, deprovisioning, access changes, and role-based access control.
  • Implement policy-driven and fine-grained access controls aligned to least privilege and Zero Trust principles.
  • Collaborate with IAM operations teams to ensure reliable, secure day-to-day identity services.

Technical Leadership & SME Support

  • Serve as the Okta technical subject matter expert, providing guidance on best practices, integrations, and platform capabilities.
  • Advise application development teams on effective use of Okta APIs, SDKs, and identity patterns.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex IAM-related issues.
  • Act as a technical mentor to IAM team members and assist with complex issue resolution.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with cybersecurity, infrastructure, application, and business teams to translate requirements into secure IAM solutions.
  • Contribute to solution scoping, effort estimation, and implementation planning.
  • Support IAM governance activities, audits, and security assessments as needed.

Documentation & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation for IAM architectures, integrations, and configurations.
  • Identify opportunities to automate identity-related processes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to IAM processes, standards, and procedures as the environment evolves.

Qualifications

Required

  • Proven hands-on experience architecting and supporting Okta in an enterprise environment.
  • Strong understanding of Active Directory, hybrid identity, and cloud IAM architectures.
  • Experience with SSO, federation, OAuth, OpenID Connect, and SAML.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex IAM issues and communicate technical concepts clearly.
  • Experience working in large, complex, or regulated environments.

Preferred

  • Experience with Zero Trust or modern identity security architectures.
  • Familiarity with IAM governance, compliance, and audit requirements.
  • Experience integrating IAM solutions with cloud platforms and SaaS applications.
  • Background in defense, government, or highly regulated industries.

Salary Note

This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.

Combined Salary Range

USD $126,862.00 - USD $137,269.00 /Yr.
