ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:
The Heavyweight Torpedo (HWT) Functional Team Lead serves as the technical lead and team facilitator for the HWT functional area within the AN/BYG-1 Payload Control System (PCS). This position combines hands-on systems engineering with day-to-day leadership of a cross-discipline development team delivering torpedo weapon control capabilities for U.S. Navy submarine combat systems. The role requires the ability to manage requirements, design, defect tracking, and test activities across the full software development lifecycle while leading the team within an Agile framework.
The ideal candidate brings a strong professional curiosity about how weapon systems work — someone who will dig into torpedo interface specifications, ask probing questions about operational scenarios, and develop a deep technical understanding of HWT command and control. This role is the program’s subject matter expert for heavyweight torpedo functionality within PCS, and we are looking for someone who will take ownership of that domain: learning the weapon interfaces, understanding the operational context, and becoming the person the team and the customer turn to for authoritative answers on HWT capabilities.
We encourage you to apply if you have any of these preferred skills or experiences:
