Responsibilities for this Position

ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:

As an Electrical Hardware Development Lead, you will lead an electrical engineering team through the development and design of mission-critical electrical hardware systems, while closely collaborating with cross-functional teams. You will provide technical direction from requirements analysis and architecture development through detailed design, manufacturing, integration, verification, and production support. This role will support programs within the Airborne Systems business area, with opportunities to support other programs and business areas within GDMS.

You will collaborate with customers, program leadership, and other engineering disciplines to translate mission needs into executable hardware solutions. You will establish technical priorities, coordinate team activities, manage design risks, and ensure the team delivers compliant hardware within program cost and schedule commitments.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead electrical engineers through all phases of the hardware development lifecycle.
  • Develop electrical architectures, trade studies, technical plans, cost estimates, schedules, and risk assessments.
  • Manage electrical requirements, interfaces, critical component selections, and design constraints.
  • Guide schematic development, PWB layout, signal and power integrity analysis, design verification, and hardware integration.
  • Coordinate technical activities across systems, mechanical, software, firmware, manufacturing, test, quality, and supply chain teams.
  • Lead design reviews and present technical status, risks, recommendations, and recovery plans to internal leadership and customers.
  • Drive root cause and corrective action investigations for complex hardware issues.
  • Mentor engineers, delegate meaningful technical ownership, and foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Support proposal development, business capture, and the creation of compliant and executable technical solutions.
  • Provide technical support throughout the transition to production, qualification, delivery, and sustainment.

What Sets You Apart:

  • Direct experience working with and for large defense primes.
  • Expert-level understanding of electrical hardware development processes across the complete program lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary or geographically dispersed design teams through complex development efforts.
  • Strong knowledge of digital and analog circuit design, high-speed interfaces, power architecture, component selection, and design verification.
  • Experience developing circuit card assemblies using advanced materials, packaging techniques, memory devices, and high-speed communication or storage protocols.
  • Working knowledge of Siemens/Mentor Graphics tools for schematic entry, layout, constraint management, and HyperLynx signal and power integrity analysis.
  • Ability to balance technical performance, cost, schedule, producibility, reliability, and program risk.
  • Exceptional communication skills; able to establish technical direction, resolve competing priorities, and secure stakeholder agreement.
  • Strong sense of ownership, sound engineering judgment, and a passion for developing both technology and people.
  • Knowledge and application of EVMS, Control Account Management, and engineering change management practices.
  • Ability to identify opportunities to apply AI for continuous improvement and innovation.

Our Commitment to You:

  • An exciting career path with opportunities for continuous learning, technical growth, and leadership development.
  • Research-oriented work alongside award-winning teams developing practical solutions for our nation’s security.
  • Flexible schedules with every other Friday off, if desired, through our 9/80 schedule.
  • Competitive benefits, including 401(k) matching, flexible time off, paid parental leave, healthcare benefits, health and wellness programs, employee resource groups, and more.
